Medications

Certain medications, for example, those used in cancer treatments, can cause hearing loss, balance problems, or tinnitus (ringing or buzzing in your ears). These effects can be temporary or permanent.

It is important to avoid loud noise while on these medications as this can make you more at risk for hearing loss and tinnitus.

If you have any questions about your medications, you should discuss this with your family doctor or pharmacist and let your audiologist know which medications you are taking.
